Happy Birthday Beck!

Well look at that...looks like a press conference for a celebrity! An early birthday present arrived for me....thanks Dan and Keira. Baby weighed in at 7lbs. and 9 ounces. His brothers are pretty excited. That is the Dr. in pink looking on. She was so sweet to sit and pose the boys and help them hold the new baby brother. Start humming the theme song to "My three sons."
Little Ryder is no longer our resident "baby" ....sorry Bubba! These little boys are all so fun. Now we get to wait for number 12 grandchild to make his appearance.

Mom, baby and biggest brother....so sweet! July 6th is now, officially, a very special day! Grandpa and I are so thankful for another safe, healthy arrival! We are truly blessed as a family and thankful for the Lord's tender mercies.

It's STINKING HOT outside!

Why do I say it is STINKING HOT outside? It's because it is that time of year when you walk outside...you can smell your trash cans over on the side of the house. It really is too hot to be alive....
When it is too hot outside...we just do outside activities...inside! Like blowing bubbles. Just stand in Grandma's tub and blow them so they don't get away from you...and more importantly...they don't get on Grandma's floor.
Uh oh....it looks like some of those bubbles got away.....
Caution: If you do insist on going outside...then you MUST stay in the pool. Keira got bad news at her visit to the Dr. today. No baby in sight. We decided to splash our cares away. We have to wait until Monday for Beck.....unless.....he decides to show up over the week-end. Sorry Keira...I could have told you not to be pregnant in the middle of the summer....but .....nobody asked me.
Did I mention that I am getting out of this STINKING HEAT by going up to the mountains? Sherman has built me a beautiful porch swing. Now the question is...where to put it? Happy Fourth of July everyone...I am going to the Fireworks in Heber.

A Day at the Poulsens

Somehow, Will always ends up helping us with our computers..
Sonia demonstrates that she can still play the hymns.....
Dan's boys like to attack him when he is horizontal....Ryder contemplates joining in.....
It ends up being the usual WWF.....nonstop.....almost...until someone gets hurt....every time.....and cries.....
We had a great time being together today to celebrate a belated Father's Day at P.F. Chang's. We found our favorite waiter from another restaurant had relocated and welcomed us with open arms (literally.) We love our Dad...he is patient, kind, hard-working, is a great banker (Bank of Dad) and takes real good care of all of us. Most of all....he magnifies his priesthood. We appreciate the good example...but definitely do NOT appreciate the vegetarian lectures... We also do not want to give up sugar...Dad.....or soda....or junk food....or closing the door behind us when the air-conditioning is on...or hanging up our towels after swimming. We love you Dad...we REALLY do....

35th Wedding Anniversary

  1. We celebrated our anniversary by going to the cabin. We spent our Honeymoon in Lakeside and vowed to have our own place in the mountains someday. Well....35 years later..we have our own place. We just cleaned all the big windows. I climbed up on the roof as Mark is opposed to heights! This is one of my favorite views. I always take a picture before we leave so I can look at my mountain home when I am away from it. We added the new game table at the left. Anybody want to play some cards?
Carter and Barb came up for one night. Carter was nice enough to help us get a zip line installed for the kids. Thanks Uncle Carter. He brought his beautiful horses and Mark and Carter went for a ride.
Here's one of the biggest kids trying out the zip line. Mark had an accident on it so I decided to give it a try...
Whooppeee.....I couldn't have done it without the harness. Time to start working on some upper body strength. We had a great week-end.

Senior Citizens

There are no pictures for this blog......I can't find the words to express my complete joy! I am amazed at my savings today. We went to Fry's for Senior Citizens discount day. We usually forget to go.....in true S.C. fashion. Today, however, we took some coupons with us. Whoa....life has changed. The funny part is that when we get to the register, the checker doesn't ask my hubby for his I.D. Now you have to understand that my hubby is so slim and buff and works so hard at eating right, etc.. that he expects people to be shocked that he is OLD ENOUGH to get the discount.

S.C: Don't you want to see my I.D?
Checker: No sir, I try not to ask ANYBODY for I.D. ....ever....
S.C: Why not?
Checker: It upsets some people.
S.C: Do YOU think I look old enough to get the discount?

By this point I am busting out laughing....she just ruined his day by NOT asking for his I.D. The next best fun part of that shopping experience was getting the chocolate chip cookie on the way out the door. Now isn't that sweet? I love dragging my old man around with me...Oh and don't you want to know HOW MUCH we actually saved? Of course you do.....drum roll...$95.00!

Next stop was Costco Home....nothing we wanted there. Next stop...Kohls...and yet ANOTHER
Senior Citizen savings day. We saved $292.42!!!
Now I have to tell you what my sweet little old Senior Citizen said next......."We are going to go broke saving all this money."

Let's just rewind and do the math...Savings total........387.42
Expenditures.......284.58

That means we saved $97.74 MORE than we spent.....I just don't get my hubby's logic. I can't wait to go shopping again tomorrow....or better yet...go out to eat on that $97.74. Men just don't get it do they?

Wilson Family Reunion

Perry and I flew back to Illinois for Adam's graduation from the Univ. of Illinois. It was Morgan's 50th birthday as well. This was Monday's military graduation and Morgan's birthday. Yes...we are all short people..except that strapping 6'3" Marine. Morgan cheated and wore his cowboy boots (with heels ha!)
This is Adam on Sunday graduating with his degree in aviation. Hoping to become a Marine fighter pilot!
Cheryl and Morgan...proud parents....and so they should be. He is a fine young man.
The Wilson reunion included visiting Springfield to see Lincoln's home, tomb and Presidential museum and library. This is Lincoln's tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery. It was windy and cool and in the 60's...guess who didn't want to go home?
The Lincoln museum and library complex. It was like being at Disneyland with all the theaters and presentations and galleries. We all had a great time. Just missing my hubby...that's all...

Baptism

Mark is the Ward Mission Leader and was involved with helping a Russian lady in our ward to be taught the Gospel. I played for her wedding a few months ago and got to play for her baptism last Saturday. Carter's neighbor served a mission to Russia so he came along to help teach as well. It was so cool to hear him give the opening prayer in Russian. Boy would I like to go over there! Sveta(Svetlana)and her little 3 year old Vica (Victoria) I am counting on her to teach me some crochet secrets, she crocheted the darling little hat on her daughter. She does just about everything and doesn't even need patterns.
