Cake Makers

Macy finished first....amazing talent! Sherman and Sonia headed up to the cabin with friends for Sonia's birthday. Sarah took all the boys and I took the two girls. These two are good friends. We had fun shopping and eating out and then came home and had a cake decorating lesson. We visited Girly Glitz, BJ's Dolls, Hottie, Blue Ocean, Little Blue Choo choo, In and Out Burger and Panda Express.
Ashton changed designs several times....too much creative power!
The finished product...another generation of talented young ladies who can make and decorate their own cakes for their children.

BIG NEWS!

Keira had her ultra sound today. Drum roll please.......IT'S ANOTHER BOY! Yes, the contest is now heating up. Who will play the roll of Infant Jesus in next year's Nativity? If Kristin has another girl in August it's all over...but if she, too, has a boy....the competition will become very stiff.
And so.....the POULSEN LEGACY continues..... (well, at least we're trying to make up for Will who is making ZERO effort right now to perpetuate the family name.) This is ONLY a test to see if Will reads my blog. The rest of you must pay absolutely NO ATTENTION to this message. He also recently got new glasses...we're also checking up on that...

Backyard Birthday Blow-out

Happy Birthday to Sonia, Peyton, Eli and Ryder. Thanks to Lara for decorating all the mini-tiered cakes. They were a big hit.
Enjoying the salsa and chips in the Ramada. Time to plant the vines. Aren't I an awesome photographer? I managed to capture everyone's best side. The 6' 10" policeman is Tiny"...Sherman's fellow officer. Sherman's mom and Lara's brother-in-law are also in the pic.
Brinton, Cobb and Stowell Grandparents joined in...it was fun!
Peyton was fascinated with the little cakes. Too bad that's Ryder's cake...yours is the sad yellow one that Grandma kind of ruined by accident. Next time...remember to freeze the cake BEFORE you frost it so it won't fall apart. Cake Decorating 101.

Wee Things

Miniature pianos are the best, especially when you have two for a duet! I love getting "deals" and the little tree was 1/2 price at Pottery Barn Kids last year! The kids love it all decorated with baskets and eggs. They keep checking for candy...have to wait for Easter. A two year old came over last night while his family ate with us and had a lesson with the missionaries. He immediately opened an egg and said.."no candy!" Two years old....wow!
I found a miniature cake stand with four pastel plates and a pie pan and muffin pan online at Fancy Flours. It is one of my favorite sites. I love to order dragees and other cake decorating stuff. This set came in a darling box that looks like a doll house. It was part of their New Year's Blow-out sale....75% off. The miniature bundt pan bakes six cakes at a time...found that at a "going out of business" sale. That's my way of maintaining my hobby without spending too much. BTW....I cut Sylvie's bangs today...hope it's okay. The table was 1/2 price at a local doll shop because a little boy had come into the store and run his metal car over one of the seats and ruined the paint job. Fine with me...the kids can have fun and nobody worries.
Mr. Big Boy is having a little snack with the girls....they love having their own furniture and accessories. I just love "wee things," especially "wee" children. My real passion is collecting vintage doll dishes. Kids don't get to play with those.... :)

Christmas 2008

Yes....this is ALL of us....so far anyway...two more coming this summer! 5 kids, 4 Spouses and 10 Grandchildren.
Want to know why I didn't send out any Christmas Cards this year? I was busy sewing nine Nativity costumes. Ryder was too big and heavy for Mary to carry...he was supposed to be a little lamb....poor Grandma suffered "burn out" after the first nine costumes. Next year Ryder...you will have the most awesome LAMB costume ever! The newcomers (Dan and Keira due in July) and (Kristin and Bert due in August) can compete to be infant Jesus. LOSER gets to be another little lamb. Watch for the BABY JESUS contest coming next FALL to a blog near you!
